Job Summary

The Head of Zero Emission Transformation primarily leads Metroline London’s strategy and implementation of zero emission technology, infrastructure, vehicles and their procedures, whilst also supporting other ComfortDelGro business units.

This role works closely with our stakeholders to deliver solutions in line with commercial objectives and all relevant legislation. In addition, support future projects that offer our services to internal and external business partners that will or could benefit from low/ zero emission transport options.

Main responsibilities

  • To work with UK power supply partners to structure and procure the delivery of power to and within our depots.
  • To determine and recommend introduction of all zero emission (ZE) alternative fuelling options for vehicles
  • Investigate and identify power requirements
  • Research alternative energy generation solutions that are beneficial to the business
  • Work with supply chain to develop and agree ZE infrastructure phasing and investment plans
  • Work with the Purchasing/Technical teams in developing a progressive strategy of introducing these systems to site
  • Support Head of Planning and Schedules with assessing the viability of ZE operations and outline recommendations in line with TfL route tender programme
  • Accountable for the delivery of implementation of ZE infrastructure
  • Work with Property Management and SHEQ team on planned implementation of ZE infrastructure
  • Deliver all solutions in full compliance with Health & Safety requirements
  • To be familiarised and keep up to date with upcoming charging infrastructure possibilities for electrification of the bus network
  • To review and recommend other possible revenue streams that can be generated from our ZE policies.
  • This role will have a high level of autonomy in terms of research and planning so applicants must be able to show previous experience in producing detailed financial, construction and operational plans and an understanding of bus operations.
  • The ability to communicate well and to work as part of a team is essential to show how ZE technology will affect day to day operation of our businesses in terms of scheduling, fleet size and cost management.
  • The Role will also work with business development across our several companies and help identify potential growth areas in other LEZ/ ZEZs and opportunities for procuring and expanding our operations.
  • Delivering all solutions in the context of the contractual arrangements in place for our London operations

Essential criteria

  • A thorough understanding of the structure and operation of UK Power Supply arrangements
  • An understanding of Hydrogen production, storage which is very likely to form part of our ZE plans
  • Have a proven track record in delivering change and innovation.
  • Has a good understanding of budget controls and cost management;
  • Proven project management experience;
  • Understands the impact of KPIs and their relevance to the business;
  • Skilled in the use of IT systems, including PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Hours of work

38 hours per week, Monday to Friday but must be flexible to work over and above these hours if deemed necessary.
