Job Summary

To undertake the training of new drivers into the organisation to the required PCV standard, including assisting with CPC acquisition. Plus other elements of training & various other duties when required to do so.

To undertake PCV Driving Tests, to the standards set by the DVSA, to meet Metroline’s ongoing PCV bus driver needs.

To ensure good driving standards and practices are promoted and maintained across the operational areas of Metroline’s business.

Full Delegated Driving Examiner Training will be provided to the successful candidate.

Assist with C&G and CPC classroom training

Main responsibilities

  • Driver Training to PCV Standard;
  • PCV corrective training;
  • CPC module 4 Training to test standard;
  • Vehicle checking and Defect reporting;
  • Type Training;
  • Introduction to Garages;
  • Completion of all progress reports and associated paperwork including C&G;
  • Communicating company policies and procedures;
  • Ensure the Health and Safety of all employees.
  • To provide a PCV practical Driving test and Off Road (Mod 4)Test Services to Metroline, which meets the Government’s DVSA criteria and enables the award of the appropriate national vocational bus driving licence and/or Driver Qualification Card;
  • Maintain secure and accurate records for driving tests in accordance with the Government’s DVSA requirements;
  • Carry out covert and overt driving assessments on established drivers in service;
  • Conduct PCV driving assessments and preliminary driving assessments;
  • Book & Invigilate PCV Theory tests, Hazards Perception tests and Case Studies, adhering to all policies and procedures laid down by the DVSA;
  • When no DDE duties are available, other duties will be allocated at the managers discretion.

Essential criteria

  • Applicants must have held a PCV licence for a minimum of three years, with no more than 3 points.
  • Must have held a full clean PCV driving licence for a minimum of five years;

  • Excellent written and spoken English with the ability to communicate; clearly and at all levels;
  • Excellent attention for detail;
  • Ability to work well under pressure;
  • Must be a team player and willing to develop others to increase team and individual performance;
  • Ability to collate and interpret statistical data;
  • Able to build lasting relationships with internal and external stakeholders/suppliers.

Hours of work

38 hours per week, Monday to Friday 08:00 to 16:00 (Saturday working will be required from time to time, to meet the needs of the business)
