Job Summary

To act as the face of Metroline Manchester in supporting the assessment of bus driving applicants.

To meet and induct new starters to the business, supporting them through their theory tests and educating them on the Metroline ways of behaving whilst starting them on their journey to becoming safe and green drivers.

Main responsibilities

  • Carrying out pre-employment assessments on candidates wishing to join Metroline Manchester.
  • Working together with recruitment to identify quality candidates and carry out all necessary assessments and checks.
  • Welcoming and inducting new bus drivers into the business, ensuring that the onboarding process is a smooth and positive experience.
  • Conducting theory revision workshops with new starter non licence holders.
  • Identifying and supporting new starters who may require additional support.
  • Conduct ad-hoc risk roadshows, classroom training and on-road training when required

Essential criteria

  • Experience of delivering training in a classroom training environment.
  • Strong presenter who can engage a classroom /virtual audience.
  • Possesses exhaustive knowledge of the national standard for driving buses and demonstrates an appetite to keep abreast of any changes.
  • Is passionate about people and their learning experience.

  • Shows an ability to empathise with individuals who may find the driver training journey challenging.

Hours of work 

38 hours per week working Monday to Friday.  Hours will involve shiftwork between 06:00 & 22:00 and there will be a requirement to work the occasional weekend on a rota basis.  There may also be times that there is a need to work outside of the usual hours of operation in line with the needs of the business.
