Metroline Manchester’s very own Phil Cornwall, Driver Mentor and Garage Admin at Hyde Road depot, was named this year’s winner of ComfortDelGro’s annual Passion! Award.
Nominated for his pivotal role during the mobilisation, Phil was singled out from the 24,000 employees working for CDG and over 400 nominations from across the global ComfortDelGro businesses, including those across the UK, Australia, Singapore and China. He was nominated for his tireless work to ensure the transition to Metroline Manchester and launch of the franchise was as smooth as possible by implementing business as usual processes and helping other staff settle in to new ways of working.
Speaking about his win, Phil says “I never expected it. The nomination was a surprise in itself, but to find out I’d actually won it – you don’t expect recognition of that scale. It’s not what you do the job for.”
As part of his prize, Phil and his partner were flown out to Singapore for a 4-day trip which involved touring a local bus depot; visiting the ComfortDelGro Head Quarters; being presented with his award by at the global townhall and having a guided tour around the city. “It was an amazing experience and the team in Singapore looked after me so well,” reflects Phil.
