Job Summary

The Group IT OM will manage the daily operation side of IT delivery into our business units within the EU.

Supporting the Group CIO, the Operations Manager will deputise to cover absence as and when required. Responsible for the smooth and efficient operational delivery of IT, you will ensure the standards and processes are delivered efficiently and your team continue to deliver a premium service to our customers.

As deputy for the Group CIO, you will support and direct the other team managers ensuring the priorities are recognised and governance is appropriately executed.

With very strong technical skills, you will translate business requirements into the technology team, exercising strong interpersonal and leadership qualities. With strong motivational and technical skills and be proactive in maintaining and developing the existing systems.

ComfortDelGro in the UK & Ireland is an expanding Land Transport business with interests in Bus, Coach, Taxis and Rail with a combined Turnover of over £500m per annum. The Division is growing through a mix of organic and acquisition and currently comprises of 11 operating businesses in London, Cardiff, Glasgow, Liverpool, Aberdeen and Ireland. The Bus & Coach Division delivers the bulk of this revenue from 7 business units.


The Group IT OM will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating all aspects of information technology delivery, to include the Service Desk and Infrastructure management within Europe and the UK. This is a critical role executing effective IT strategies as directed by the Group CIO, including systems, and processes to support the achievement of our business objectives. This position requires strong leadership skills with comprehensive technical knowledge you will challenge the norm.


As a functional leader, the Group ITOM plays a strategic role in the overall leadership and management in the short, medium, and long term. The job holder will lead and develop a high-performing, business-focused IT function to improve safety, customer service, maximise operating efficiency and improve colleague experience.

Main responsibilities

Safety & Security:

  • Ensuring safety culture is embedded throughout the IT team.
  • Protecting the organisation from cyber-related attacks through systems risk minimisation, up-to-date security, fit for purpose resilience, and disaster recovery management.
  • Implementing and maintaining robust cyber security measures to protect the company’s data, systems, and intellectual property.
  • Maintaining compliance with organisational policies, governance, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Ensuring IT audit and governance standards are continuously monitored for compliance and best practices are implemented.
  • Maintaining effective relationships with stakeholders, regulators and auditors.
  • Ensuring effective internal controls are in place and compliant with relevant processes, best practices, and other external systems requirements.
  • Developing ICT business continuity / contingency plans and ensuring these are tested regularly for their effectiveness

Customer Service (Internal & External):

  • Delivering high-quality IT service (internally and externally) across all disciplines.
  • Optimising existing systems and application support performance and reliability, including communications.
  • Overseeing the design, implementation, and maintenance of robust and reliable IT infrastructure and controls, including networks, hardware, servers, and databases.
  • Evaluating existing systems, tools, and software applications and recommending improvements.
  • Managing third-party service providers, ensuring they provide optimal solutions for the business and deliver services as contracted.
  • Promoting technology best practices across the organisation.
  • Delivering hardware and software availability to new and existing staff.

Strategy & Planning:

  • Developing and communicating the IT vision, strategy, and roadmap aligned with the organisation’s goals.
  • Collaborating with the senior team and business units to understand their technological needs, drive effective change management, and lead the future IT strategies for systems, technology, and automation to improve performance whilst enhancing customer service.
  • Collaborating with key stakeholders to prioritise IT initiatives and allocate the appropriate resources.
  • Managing IT budgeting, cost control, and investment decisions.
  • Lead the planning, execution, and monitoring of IT projects to ensure timely delivery and high-quality implementation.
  • Ensuring the IT operation is organised to optimise performance and resources are allocated in an effective way.
  • Supporting the Group CIO’s development and implementation of CDG Group ICT Strategy
  • Supporting tenders responses, M&A due diligence and integration plans


  • Monitoring industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure competitiveness and innovation.
  • Providing recommendations to enhance business performance and new business opportunities, acting as a strategic business partner to the business.
  • Challenging established thinking with new ways of working, particularly with engagement and leadership.
  • Developing a ‘solution-focused’ innovation approach in working collaboratively with external and internal stakeholders.
  • Building and leading a high-performing IT team, promoting a culture of collaboration and innovation.
  • Ensuring the team has the skills and talent to deliver the Business Plan by providing appropriate skills and training to ensure colleagues have the right tools and support to be effective in their roles.

  • Providing advice and guidance to the senior team evaluating and executing significant investment projects.
  • Ensuring IT delivers value to customers, shareholders, and internally, through improving the sustainability of CDG-Europe’s business.
  • Optimising the cost of CDG-Europe’s systems, ensuring transparent reporting and building in efficiencies
  • Managing third-party organisations, ensuring they provide the services as contracted and value for CDG-Europe
  • Define and implement an IT strategy in line with corporate requirements
  • Liaison with Senior IT colleagues within ComfortDelGro Corporation in Singapore.

Essential criteria

  • Expertise in forming a team to support ICT Strategy, proven people and change management skills
  • Knowledge of ITT, RFIs procedures & formal project methodologies
  • Aware of market trends in both the Transport and IT industries
  • Must have at least 10 years IT experience with a Minimum of 2 years running IT function as IT Manager or senior manager or equivalent
  • Proven project, resource and supplier management and development/maintenance of large ICT systems
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent understanding and proven knowledge and experience on Cybersecurity
  • Experience in working for a multinational organisation (desired)
