Job summary

Reporting to the Head of Recruitment and Training, the Training Manager will assume full responsibility for the Training function, managing and overseeing all areas of Training to include JAUPT, DVSA, City and Guilds and directly manage the Training and Technical Support Officer, Development Trainers, Driver Trainers, Delegated Examiners and City and Guilds Officer.

The ability to deputise for the Head of Recruitment and Training when required and deputise for the Recruitment Manager when required.

Main Responsibilities

 

 

  • Directly manage and lead the Training Team on a daily basis to maximise performance within the team
  • Liaising with the engineers in relation to bus maintenance planning to include mechanical buses and buses due for rota
  • Booking and recording Module 3 and 4 tests on the Government website
  • Test Pass/Fail Debriefs with trainee and instructor
  • Liaising with the garages to arrange corrective training for probationers
  • Trainee allocation
  • Staff performance management and attendance management
  • Classroom delivery accredited to CPC;
  • Assist and manage the Development Trainers in developing CPC training courses;
  • Prepare paperwork meeting compliance with JAUPT requirements for registering and re-registering CPC courses;
  • Complete weekly and monthly payroll returns for trainees and trainers;
  • Ensure that training documentation is up to date and relevant;
  • Ensure full licence checks on new drivers are recorded;
  • Ensure full licence and DQC checks are recorded for all members of the training team.

Essential Criteria

  • Extensive knowledge of Jaupt, DVSA and CPC legislation.

Competencies & Skills

  • Applicants should be numerate, accurate in their work, with an attention to detail;
  • They should be able to demonstrate initiative, flexibility and have a committed approach to their work;
  • Must be proactive, methodical and results orientated
  • A good telephone manner and the ability to get on with people and work as part of a team are essential;
  • Knowledge of driver hour regulations is essential;
  • Capable of developing Training courses;
  • Capable of delivering training to CPC standards;
  • Excellent written and spoken English with the ability to communicate clearly and at all levels;
  • Ability to operate as a team player;
  • Ability to work well under pressure.

Hours of work

38 hours per week, Monday to Friday, may be required to work outside of these hours in line with the needs of the business.
