Job summary

The Training and Development Centre Administrator will work closely with and report directly to the Training Development Officer and the Head of Recruitment and Training. Responsible for ensuring the smooth daily operation of all administration functions for the Metroline Skills and Development Centre. The post holder must have a thorough knowledge of all training centre administration functions.

Main Responsibilities

(Not exhaustive)



  • To assist the Training Development Officer in providing an efficient staff training and development service;
  • To administer 'Skills and Development Centre' training room booking.
  • Record and maintain details/records of all the Skills and Development Centre apprenticeships, training courses, exams and candidate information;
  • To promote a high level of employee relations through good working practices and to create effective working patterns to ensure the smooth running of the Metroline Skills and Development Centre;
  • To produce audit reports and liaise with appropriate managers and the apprenticeship committee on the results;
  • Open, and where appropriate, deal with all the Skills and Development Centre mail and correspondence, both internal and external;
  • To receive and deal with training candidates complaints, ensuring they are dealt with in accordance with company policy and legal requirements;
  • Ensure all administration records pertaining to Skills and Development Centre equipment and property issued to staff, are maintained and updated;
  • To carry out period end returns as required,
  • To monitor and reorder stocks of stationery and any other item required to ensure continued efficient operation of the Skills and Development Centre.
  • Compile minutes of meetings and distribute;

Essential Criteria

  • Previous experience within an administrative role is an advantage;
  • Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills;
  • Excellent written and spoken English with the ability to communicate clearly and at all levels;
  • Skilled in the use of IT systems, including Excel, Word and Outlook;

Competencies & Skills

  • Ability to manage own workload effectively and work to deadlines;
  • A committed, positive approach to encourage and support new and existing members of staff;
  • Previous experience within an educational / apprenticeship establishment is an advantage;
  • Attention to detail; record keeping;
  • Ability to take accurate minutes at meetings;
  • Able to use own initiative when dealing with issues and escalate where necessary;
  • An understanding/appreciation of the Skills and Development Centre requirements and the management of day to day operational issues;
  • Ability to work well under pressure;
  • Must be a team player and willing to develop others to increase team and individual performance.

Hours of work

38 hours per week, Monday to Friday, may be required to work outside of these hours in line with the needs of the business
