An Operations Controller is responsible for the day to day movements of the coach vehicle fleet. They must ensure that the company’s drivers undertake the work that is scheduled to them and if required make the changes and scheduling amendments necessary to avoid any delays and inconvenience to customers, or breaches of the EU drivers hours and regulations.

Main Responsibilities

 

 

  • Using the Coach Manager scheduling program and Tom Tom Webfleet vehicle tracking system to undertake the role.
  • Consistently monitoring driver and vehicle movements throughout the day and reacting accordingly.
  • Communicating effectively with drivers both before and during bookings.
  • Taking the appropriate action and advising drivers of any accidents, road closures, or route changes that may affect their journey.
  • Resolving driver and operational issues as they arise and communicating with all parties concerned.
  • Ensuring that all driver’s duties and journeys operate in accordance with the EU driver’s hours rules and regulations.
  • Liaising with customers to ensure that they receive the right information and are kept informed of any changes.
  • Working as part of a team alongside the Operations Manager and Duty Manager.
  • Preparing work tickets, additional documents and extra’s for drivers including water etc.
  • Be able to communicate with all departments and maintain a constructive role within the business.
  • Driving the company coaches in the event of an emergency or as a last resort to fulfil a journey.
  • Periodically answering the telephone and directing the calls as required.

Essential Criteria for application

  • Demonstrable knowledge of driver hours regulations;
  • Good geographical knowledge;
  • I.T literate
  • PCV licence essential;

  • An understanding/appreciation of the service requirements and the management of day to day operational issues;
  • Ability to influence and persuade key decision makers;
  • Must be a team player and willing to develop others to increase team and individual performance.

38 hours per week, Monday to Friday
