Job summary

The Managing Director will be responsible for the overall financial and operational performance of the company. 

We are looking for a Managing Director to control and oversee all business operations, people and ventures. You will be the highest ranking manager in the organisation and will be responsible for the overall success of the business.

The ideal candidate will be able to steer the company to the most profitable direction while also implementing its vision, mission and long term goals, within the regulatory environment that exists today and through meeting the challenges to this environment.

We want New Adventure Travel to achieve sustainable improvements in performance and to grow.

Main Responsibilities

 

 

  • Develop and execute business strategies to achieve corporate goals.
  • Provide strategic advice on risks and opportunities facing the business to the ComfortDelGro UK Board and attend Quarterly Board Meetings.
  • Delegate responsibilities and supervise the work of the Senior Management Team providing guidance and motivation to drive maximum performance
  • Produce regular and ad hoc reports for UK board, covering performance and investment.
  • Oversee the company’s financial performance, investments and other business ventures, using KPI data provided from all departments, identifying and addressing any shortcomings
  • Prepare and implement comprehensive budgets and business plans for all elements of the business.
  • Manage relationships with Key Stakeholders, including 11 local authorities, key Private Hire Customers, Welsh Government and the newly formed Transport for Wales.
  • Maintaining ongoing dialogue with regulatory authorities such as DVSA, the office of Traffic Commissioner and Bus Users UK.
  • Taking an active role in the CPT Cymru function to ensure that they are representing the companies best interests
  • Sit on various boards including the South East Wales Bus Funding Board.  
  • Taking a lead in staff engagement.
  • Be a designated Transport Manager for the business
  • Seek opportunities for growing the business organically and through acquisition
  • Act as the company spokesperson.

                                                                               

Essential Criteria/ Competencies & Skills

 

 

  • Proven experience as Managing Director or other senior managerial position
  • Previous experience of working in the Passenger Transport Industry
  • Demonstrable experience in developing strategic and business plans
  • Thorough knowledge of the bus market in Wales along with an understanding  of the forces that influence the performance of the company
  • Strong understanding of corporate finance and measures of performance
  • Familiarity with corporate law, employment law and management best practices
  • Excellent organisational and leadership skills
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent understanding of regulatory requirements for large bus companies
