Job summary

Improving the performance of the business as measured by TfL’s new Safety Performance Index. Utilising a team of Transport Safety Managers provide a robust framework and strategy to reduce number and costs of collisions and public injuries. Work closely with our Claims Management company. Overall responsibility for CCTV Department to ensure standards for retrieval and downloading of all internal and external requests are completed in a timely manner.

Main Responsibilities



  • Provide direction for team to achieve significant reduction in all areas associated with collision prevention
  • Manage departmental administration processes
  • Provide support and analysis of collision data, driver telematic systems
  • Manage departmental budget to ensure adherence and cost effectiveness
  • Liaise with garage management team to support collision reduction objectives
  • Liaise with trade union with regard to new initiatives
  • Provide investigation and suitable post incident management
  • Work closely with our Claims Management Company
  • Support business Health & Safety objectives
  • Focussed on London bus business but required to support our group companies

Essential Criteria

  • Demonstrable experience within a Healthy & Safety and/or Collision  Prevention function (essential)
  • NEBOSH qualified (or equivalent) or working towards (essential)
  • An understanding/appreciation of the service requirements of London Bus business and the management of day to day operational issues (essential)
  • Management CPC or working towards (essential)
  • Sound understanding of GDPR and Data Protection issues (essential)
  • BTEC driving assessor’s qualification (desirable)

  • Ability to conduct disciplinary enquiries and appeals

Hours of work

38 hours per week, Monday to Friday, although flexibility will be required to meet the needs of the business.
