Job summary

A dynamic individual, who can demonstrate strong technical aptitude and a proven record of managing key aspects of a complex IT infrastructure. Ideally you have worked in an environment related to personal ground transport preferably bus or coach transport.

Responsibility for all aspects of the IT infrastructure at Metroline and other BU’s in the UK. Managing a team of 3rd line engineers to improve, maintain and optimise the infrastructure both on-premise and cloud based networks and systems.

Main Responsibilities



  • Ensure the IT infrastructure across all BU’s in the Braddell UK group are fit for purpose and secure
  • Leading and managing the Infrastructure team in performance and priorities, including objective setting and performance feedback.
  • Running supplier selection process.
  • Be responsible for all hardware in use and its maintenance contracts and lifecycles.
  • Maintaining IT infrastructure, ensuring it continues to meet the needs of the business.
  • Manage Risk assessment, risk management and risk mitigation
  • Managing and maintain backup server and systems, ensuring daily and weekly backups are completed successfully and stored securely.
  • Participating in projects.

Essential Criteria for application

  • Strong technical knowledge of AD, Citrix, VMWare, Cisco and Microsoft server technology.
  • Excellent understanding and experience with DR processes
  • Project planning and delivering upgrades to hardware and software and decisions with senior management.
  • Excellent communication skills with:
    • Technical
    • non-technical
    • “C” level
    • Other levels of the organization.
  • Supplier management
  • Prioritisation and organisation skills
  • Team management, Mentoring and Training experience
  • Delivering business process change
  • Able to be hands-on on systems and infrastructure.

  • Have an awareness of the functions, operations and technology employed within Metroline
  • Able to explain technical concepts and procedures to non-technical users.

  • Skills in adapting, multi-tasking and troubleshooting.

Hours of work

9:00am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday or the hours needed to undertake the role. This may include some out of hours or weekend working.
