To manage the maintenance of the London Operations’ accounting processes, systems and controls, within Corporate Governance standards, producing financial and management information that is timely, accurate and relevant.

 

Main Responsibilities

 

 

  • Manage the integrity and accuracy of the London Bus Operation’s (LBO) financial systems and its interfaces with other operational systems. The core financial systems are on Oracle;
  • Manage the preparation of the monthly management accounts and variance analysis, to ensure that the London Board and management has a full understanding of company performance against budget / forecast;
  • Produce monthly reports to Board on financial performance;
  • Manage the Treasury function, to ensure that cash is managed effectively and interest income is optimised;
  • Manage the LBO’s Purchase Ledger, ensuring invoices are processed accurately, on a timely basis, within Company authorisation levels and that suppliers are paid in line with cash targets;
  • Manage the Invoicing function, ensuring that billing is correct and timely and that the cash is collected within company targets;
  • Ensure that the London Operations complies with Corporate Governance standards relating to bank mandates, financial authority limits and approvals;
  • Manage the completion of statutory returns, such as the annual accounts, VAT returns, ensuring accuracy and delivery within company timetables;
  • Through a rolling and ongoing program of reconciliation, ensure that the nominal ledger is at all times a true and accurate reflection of the position of the company, enabling them to form the basis of the statutory, management accounts and weekly performance statements;
  • In conjunction with the Operational Auditor, undertake compliance and process auditing of garage based financial systems, identifying weaknesses, correcting where necessary and introducing consistent best practices through training and coaching;
  • Undertake the completion of ad hoc projects as requested by the Finance Director;
  • In conjunction with the company strategy, ensure all staff are correctly motivated and developed.

Essential Criteria

  • Qualified Chartered/Certified Accountant;
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Financial Management;
  • Full understanding of current UK GAAP;
  • Knowledge of IAS (desirable);
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
  • Knowledge of Employment Law;
  • Knowledge of Oracle financials.
