Job summary

Leading and Managing the Accounts Payable Team ensuring the timely and accurate management of the Procure to Pay function and the integrity of the ledgers.

Main Responsibilities



  • Manage and control the overall function of the Accounts Payable Team
  • Processing of invoices whilst ensuring the approvals for payment are always within the published financial authorisation limits of the Company.
  • Onboarding of suppliers ensuring integrity checks on supplier details including bank account verification
  • Managing multiple supplier payment runs through the month via BACS and allocation of cash for manual payments and direct debits
  • Reconciling Statements
  • Resolving supplier account queries
  • Accounts Payable new account maintenance
  • Ensuring the integrity of the A/P Ledgers
  • Working with colleagues in Finance and IT on a continual improvement of Accounts Payable processes with the goal of removing any duplicate or redundant processing and improving the overall efficiency of process and procedure.
  • Review and manage further consolidation of A/P functions across the wider Group of Companies supporting the potential for widening the existing shared centre approach. 
  • Ensure all activities are completed in an efficient and timely manner
  • Management, review and development of staff
  • Responsible for the production of purchase accruals and all reconciliations to strict deadlinesAct as an Accounts Payable contact, both internally and externally
  • Journal compilation and input as required;
  • Building relationships with suppliers to ensure effective working relationships
  • Control and monitoring archiving;
  •  Ad Hoc duties as required.

Essential Criteria

  • Computer literate ideally on Oracle Accounts Payable or an alternative ERP package, and fixed asset accounting packages along with Microsoft Windows, Excel & Word;
  • Advanced knowledge of double entry book keeping;
  • Self motivated with an ability to work unsupervised;
  • Good training skills;
  • Experience with managing a team and instituting change

  • Ability to collate and interpret statistical data;
  • Able to build lasting relationships with internal and external stakeholders/suppliers;
  • Must be a team player and willing to develop others to increase team and individual performance.

Hours of work

38 hours per week, Monday to Friday
