Following a review of usage of routes 84 and 242, we are making a number of timetable changes. These are aimed at providing a level of service where there is reasonable demand and the need to improve the future financial sustainability of the services, which in recent years have been operated by our company on a purely commercial basis. The changes are briefly summarised below but please check the new timetables which you can view on the link at the end of each service.

Route 84 - New Barnet – Potters Bar – London Colney – St Albans

Mondays to Fridays and Saturdays

The main change will be to the service between 0900 to about 1530 when buses will run every 30 minutes throughout the whole route. Where possible we have tried to provide a regular frequency between London Colney and St Albans in conjunction with Uno Route 602 where we run over the same section route. Fewer buses will run in the evenings and the early morning journey to/from South Mimms and the journeys to/from Cranborne Road Industrial Estate will no longer run.

The Schoolday only journeys to and from Townsend School and St Albans Girls School will continue to run as now although there will be minor timing changes to the morning journeys.

Sundays and Most Public Holidays

Buses will now run hourly during the daytime period but with a less frequent evening service as now. A Saturday service will run on Good Friday.

The new timetable can be viewed here.

Route 242 - Potters Bar – Cuffley – Cheshunt – Waltham Cross

Mondays to Saturdays

Regrettably we are unable to maintain the current timetable on a commercial basis given the current level of usage, and against a background of increasing traffic congestion affecting the reliability of the route.

There will be a reduction in the service on the very lightly used Potters Bar – Brookfield Centre section of route which will allow us to provide a more regular service on the busier section of route between Brookfield Centre and Waltham Cross. However, the evening service will no longer run with the last bus from Waltham Cross to Potters Bar at 1810 on Mondays and Fridays and 1812 on Saturdays. Buses will now only run beyond Cuffley to/from Potters Bar at school times and at the start and finish of service. There will no longer be any early evening journeys from Potters Bar.

There will be fewer journeys via Whitefields Road and the journeys to/from Cranborne Road Industrial Estate will no longer run due to lack of use.

The school journeys serving Dame Alice Owen’s School and Goffs School will remain with some timing adjustments.

To support this revised timetable the service will now be provided with financial assistance from Hertfordshire County Council.

The new timetable can be viewed here.

There are no changes to the Sunday service which is provided on behalf of Hertfordshire County Council, although it will be operated by Uno instead of Trustybus.

Route PB1 – Potters Bar Town Service

We will continue to run the service under contract to Hertfordshire County Council. Overall the timetable will not substantially change, but the opportunity has been taken to remove the lunchtime break in the service and, therefore, a half hourly service will run throughout the day.

The new timetable can be viewed here.

Look out for our brand new environmentally friendly electric bus that will be introduced on the route later in the year.
