Metroline joins UK Government's Kickstart Scheme to deliver jobs for Young People
Metroline is pleased to be able to support the UK Government’s Kickstart Scheme, a cornerstone of the Chancellor’s Plan for Jobs. Thirty new paid job placements will be created at our London bus garages to provide opportunities for young people who are most at risk of long-term unemployment brought about by the economic impact of the Coronavirus pandemic.
The new jobs will supplement our existing teams in garage operations, recruitment, IT, engineering administration and service delivery roadside support. Work coaches at JobCentre Plus will map their young clients who are suited to the vacancies and encourage applications.
In addition to gaining skills and unique experience from a 6-month placement in our busy, fast-paced London bus business, each participant will benefit from employability support consisting of a CV advice service, career talks, interview practice and help with job searching to enhance the individual’s long-term prospects.
Speaking about the scheme, Area Operations Director Nick Faichney said: “Our business depends on attracting and developing new talent and we are pleased to partner with the Department for Work and Pensions to deliver this national scheme to support young people in achieving career success. There’s never a quiet moment in our historic bus garages and working with Metroline will give the participants invaluable skills to boost their employability. I encourage young people looking for work to explore Metroline’s Kickstart opportunities with their work coach.”
