The cornerstone of our education and training programme is our Staff Training and Recruitment (STAR) Centre – our flagship training facility at Wembley. The centre provides facilities for new staff and current drivers to gain access to further training and qualifications (such as the BTEC).

For new and existing staff

The centre includes an enhanced Training Studio, IT training facilities, onsite driving test facilities and teaching space.

It is here that we recruit new drivers, train new supervisors, refresh all Metroline's existing drivers with training development, provide garage teambuilding initiatives and the Professional Manager Development Programme.

Learning Culture

In addition, we are also working to create a learning culture at garage level. We ensure that all staff have basic skills training and we work in partnership with local further education colleges to encourage staff to improve their literacy and numeracy.

The Future

In the future we are also aiming to have IT and internet facilities accessible on garage premises that will be linked to our intranet and provide everyone with easy access to learning. This will work in conjunction with the opening of the new static learning centres at Holloway, Potters Bar and the new STAR Centre at Wembley.
