Innovation

Here at Metroline, we pride ourselves on our investment in state of the art technology as well as the special emphasis we give to the training and development of our people.

Vision 2005 – New business strategy

We worked with our Singapore-based parent company, ComfortDelGro, to produce a new business strategy, ‘Vision 2005.’  This heralded a massive process of business transformation, founded on re-investment in infrastructure and new buses, route expansion, new systems and process, innovative IT projects and above all, the training and development of our people.

The emphasis on training has not wavered since our new business strategy in 2005 and in 2009 we are committed to ensuring every one of our drivers meets new EU legislation by obtaining their Driver CPC license.

We will be undertaking a day’s training per year per driver over the next five years for each of them to complete all five CPC modules. This is testament to the commitment in training we strive to give all our drivers.

CELF (Central Engineering Logistics Facility) Centre

Officially opening in September 2007, Metroline’s state of the art CELF Centre reached its core capabilities the following year as planned. The Centre exemplifies the progression Metroline is making in creating more economically and efficient solutions for the business.

It is proving to be extremely instrumental in Metroline’s aim to cut time and costs wherever it can; centralising as many procedures as possible. Ultimately, the Centre will have control over processes, limit the amount of time our buses are off the road and speed up logistical operations to reduce cost and increase productivity.

LEAN

The LEAN initiative demonstrates Metroline’s forward thinking approach to business. The idea is to analyse a business process and isolate its most valuable parts from the wastage which is then subsequently stripped away; increasing efficiency within the business.

In place across 10 of our engineering sites, LEAN is a method which has evolved over 100 years and is widely recognised in modern industry as a blueprint by which all innovative companies should operate.

The engineering standards supported by subsequent statistics have proven to reap substantial benefits (such as reduced lost mileage) and will continue to be updated and developed in the future.
